Terms of service
Effective date: 27 April 2026 · Last updated: 21 May 2026
The agreement that governs your use of KnoMe, operated by M1 Factory, Inc.(“we”, “us”). By creating an account or using the service you agree to these terms.
The service is functional but actively evolving. Features, APIs, and pricing may change without notice. We aim for reliability but do not guarantee uptime or data persistence during the beta period. Do not store anything you cannot afford to lose.
Do not store sensitive personal data. Specifically: no Social Security numbers, government-issued ID numbers, passwords, financial account credentials, medical records, or any data governed by HIPAA, GLBA, FERPA, or equivalent laws. KnoMe is not certified or designed for regulated data. If you’re unsure whether something belongs here, it doesn’t.
1. The service
KnoMe is a personal knowledge management tool that lets you organise information into rooms, categories, and entries, and retrieve it via AI assistants using the Model Context Protocol (MCP). The service is in beta — features and availability may change.
2. Accounts and authentication
You must provide a valid email address to create an account. Authentication is via magic link or OAuth (Google, GitHub) — no password is stored. You are responsible for all activity under your account. Notify us immediately at meet@m1factory.com if you believe your account has been compromised. Accounts must be personal and non-transferable. You must be at least 16 years old to use KnoMe.
3. Acceptable use
Do not use KnoMe to:
- Store or distribute illegal, harmful, or abusive content
- Store Social Security numbers, government-issued ID numbers, passwords, financial account credentials, medical records, or data governed by HIPAA, GLBA, FERPA, or equivalent laws
- Attempt to access other users' data or probe the service in ways that could damage or overload it
- Circumvent authentication, rate-limiting, or security measures
- Crawl sources or services that prohibit automated access
- Impersonate another person or entity
- Violate any applicable law or regulation
Violations may result in immediate account suspension without prior notice.
4. Your content
You retain full ownership of the content you add to KnoMe — rooms, entries, notes, links, and files. By storing content with us you grant us a limited licence to store and serve it back to you (and to AI assistants acting on your behalf with your explicit authorisation), and nothing more.
We do not claim intellectual property rights over your content. We will never use it to train AI models or share it with third parties beyond the subprocessors listed in our Privacy policy.
5. Your responsibility for your workload
You are responsible for:
- Content legality. Ensuring your stored content complies with applicable law, including copyright and data protection law.
- AI assistant behaviour. Whatever an AI assistant does via your authorised MCP connection is your conduct. We are not responsible for actions taken by AI assistants using your data.
- Credentials. Any API keys, OAuth tokens, or secrets you configure or connect.
- Compliance. HIPAA, FERPA, GLBA, GDPR, and other regulated-data obligations. The platform is not pre-certified for those uses.
6. AI assistant integrations (MCP)
When you authorise an AI assistant via the MCP OAuth flow:
- The assistant acts within the scopes you grant at authorisation time
- You can revoke access at any time from your KnoMe settings
- We are not responsible for what the AI provider does with content from your prompts
7. Pricing
KnoMe is currently free during beta. If we introduce paid plans we will notify existing users at least 30 days in advance and provide a reasonable transition period.
8. Service availability
No contractual uptime SLA during beta. We aim for high availability but do not guarantee uninterrupted service. Maintenance and changes may occur with or without advance notice. A post-mortem will be published after incidents causing significant downtime or affecting customer data.
9. Termination
You may delete your account at any time by emailing meet@m1factory.com. Upon deletion we will remove your account and all associated data. We may suspend or terminate accounts for acceptable-use violations, extended inactivity (with advance notice), or activity that creates legal or operational risk.
10. Disclaimers
The service is provided “as is” and “as available.” AI-assisted output can be incomplete, wrong, or unexpected — treat it as a starting point, not as authoritative. We disclaim implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement to the extent the law allows.
11. Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, M1 Factory, Inc. shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages arising from your use of KnoMe, including loss of data. Total cumulative liability is capped at fees paid in the twelve months before the event giving rise to the claim (or $50 USD if you are on the free plan). Exceptions: fraud, willful misconduct, or non-waivable obligations under law.
12. Changes to these terms
Material revisions will be communicated by email at least 14 days before they take effect. Continued use after the effective date constitutes acceptance of the revised terms.
13. Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Delaware, without regard to its conflict-of-laws principles. Any disputes shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the state and federal courts located in Delaware.
